Terms of Service
These terms are the agreement between you and IBOS. They are long because they try to answer every question in advance, but they are written to be read — by you, and by a parent or guardian if you are under eighteen. The short version: IBOS plans your work and never does it for you; your data is yours; you will never be charged without choosing to pay; and if anything here conflicts with a right the law gives you, the law wins.
1.About these terms
IBOS is a study planner for International Baccalaureate Diploma students, available at ibos.study. It is built and run by Dennis Sokol, an individual based in France, and is not yet operated through a company. In these terms, “IBOS”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Dennis Sokol as the operator of IBOS.
By ticking the box on the signup form and creating an account, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not create an account. You can read the site’s public pages without an account; the parts of these terms about accounts only apply once you have one.
These terms work alongside the privacy notice, which explains what data IBOS holds and why, and the cookie policy. Where a question is about your personal data, the privacy notice is the one that answers it.
2.Words used in these terms
- Service — the IBOS website, the app you use once signed in, and every feature in it, including the AI features.
- Account — the profile you create with your email address and password.
- Your content — anything you put into IBOS: subjects, topics, deadlines, homework, grades, notes, links, essay drafts, pasted text, photos and documents.
- AI features — the assistant (Sage), the essay coach, and the reading of pasted homework, photos and documents.
- Early access — the current period, in which IBOS is free and opened to schools one at a time.
3.Who can use IBOS
IBOS is built for students aged roughly 16 to 19 who are taking, or preparing for, the IB Diploma Programme. You may use it if:
- you are 15 or older, which is the age at which French law lets you agree to an online service handling your data on your own; or
- you are younger than 15 and a parent or guardian has read these terms and the privacy notice and agreed to them on your behalf.
If you are under 18, you confirm that you have shown, or will show, these terms to a parent or guardian if they ask. During early access IBOS is only open to people it has invited; an invitation does not by itself create any obligation on either side beyond these terms.
4.Your account
- One account per person, in your own name, using an email address you can read. The account is personal: don’t share it or let anyone else use it.
- Keep your password to yourself and don’t reuse one from another site. If you think someone else knows it, change it in Settings → Account security, which also signs every other browser out, and tell us if you think your account was misused.
- You are responsible for what is done through your account, unless it was done by someone who got in through no fault of yours.
- Keep your email address current. It is how you reset a forgotten password and how we tell you about changes that matter.
5.Early access, price and payment
IBOS is free during early access. We intend to charge €5 a month after it, and may change that figure before paid plans start.
You will never be charged by default. Paying will be a separate step that you choose, with the price, what it includes and how to cancel shown before you agree. If you do not choose to pay when paid plans start, your account and your data stay exactly where they are, although some features may then be limited to paying accounts; you will be told which before that happens.
When paid plans exist, their billing, renewal and cancellation terms will be added here and shown to you before you pay. Nothing in these terms removes a right you have under EU or French consumer law, including any right to withdraw from a contract made online.
6.What IBOS does, and what it doesn't
IBOS turns what you tell it — your subjects, the hours you are free, your homework, your tests and your coursework deadlines — into a suggested plan for each day. It also keeps your grades, your predicted points out of 45, and links and notes for your coursework in one place.
It is a planning tool. In particular:
- A plan is a suggestion. You decide what to work on; IBOS does not know everything your teachers said or everything going on in your life.
- Predicted points are arithmetic on the grades you enter, using the published IB rules. They are not a forecast from the IB, your school or anyone else, and they do not guarantee a result.
- IBOS is not a substitute for your teachers, your DP Coordinator, a counsellor, or a doctor. If you are struggling with more than your workload, please talk to someone at school.
7.The AI features
Some features send the text you give them — a question, an essay draft, a pasted message, a photo or a document — to Anthropic, the company that provides the AI model, to produce an answer. The privacy notice explains exactly what is sent. You can switch every AI feature off in Settings → AI & privacy; with it off, nothing is sent.
- AI makes mistakes. It can misread a date, miss a piece of homework, or give advice that doesn’t fit your situation. IBOS always shows you what it found before saving it; check it.
- Usage is limited. Each account has a monthly allowance for AI features and a daily allowance for uploaded files, because every use costs real money. When an allowance runs out, the feature pauses until it resets; the rest of IBOS keeps working.
- Don’t try to get around those limits, or use the AI features for anything other than your own studies.
8.Academic integrity
IBOS plans work; it does not do it. The essay coach points out what is weak in a draft and never writes, rewrites or completes any part of it. The assistant manages your timetable, not your coursework. That is deliberate: the IB, UCAS and the Common App all require the work you submit to be your own, and so does your school.
Following your school’s and the IB’s academic integrity rules is your responsibility. You agree not to use IBOS, or anything it produces, in a way that breaks them — for example by submitting AI output as your own work, or by trying to make the coach write for you. If you are unsure whether something is allowed, ask your teacher before you do it, not after.
9.Your content
Your content stays yours. You keep every right you have in it. You give IBOS permission to store, copy and process it only as far as needed to run the service for you — to show it back to you, to build your plans, and, if you use them, to send it to the AI features. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account, apart from copies the law requires us to keep.
IBOS does not sell your content, show it to other users, share it with your school, or use it to train AI models.
You are responsible for what you put in. In particular:
- Only upload material you are allowed to share — for example, a worksheet your teacher gave your class, not a paid-for textbook scanned in full.
- Don’t put other people’s personal information into IBOS without their permission, beyond what naturally appears in your own schoolwork, such as a teacher’s name on a homework post.
- Links you save point to files that stay wherever they are, such as your Google Drive. IBOS does not copy or host those files and is not responsible for them.
10.Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- access, or try to access, anyone else’s account or data;
- probe, scan or test IBOS for weaknesses, or get around its security, rate limits or usage limits — if you find a security problem, please report it to us privately instead, and thank you;
- use bots, scrapers or other automated tools to access IBOS, or put an unreasonable load on it;
- copy, resell or build a competing product from IBOS itself;
- upload anything illegal, harmful, hateful or sexual, or anything that infringes someone else’s rights;
- use IBOS to harass, threaten or impersonate anyone, or to send anyone spam;
- use IBOS in any way that breaks the law or your school’s rules.
11.IBOS's own material, and the IB
The IBOS software, design, name and text belong to IBOS. These terms let you use them to use the service, and nothing more.
IBOS is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the International Baccalaureate Organization. “International Baccalaureate”, “IB” and related names are trademarks of the IBO, used here only to describe who IBOS is for. Subject and topic lists follow the published IB guides and are provided for planning only.
If you send us feedback or a suggestion, we may use it to improve IBOS without owing you anything for it — though we will say thank you.
12.Privacy and cookies
How IBOS handles personal data is set out in the privacy notice, which also explains your rights under the GDPR — to see, correct, delete or take away your data. Which cookies IBOS uses, and how to choose, is in the cookie policy. Optional cookies are only used with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
13.Availability, changes and backups
IBOS is in early access and will change, sometimes a lot. Features may be added, changed or removed. We aim to keep it running and your data safe, but it may occasionally be slow, unavailable, or wrong, and we can’t promise otherwise.
You can download everything IBOS holds about you at any time, from Settings → Your data. It is worth doing before an important deadline, and it is the simplest insurance against anything going wrong on our side.
If we remove a feature that holds your content, we will tell you first and give you a way to take that content with you.
14.Ending your use of IBOS
You can stop using IBOS whenever you like, without giving a reason. Settings → Your data deletes your account and everything in it, immediately and permanently; download a copy first if you want one, because it cannot be undone. Deleting your account ends this agreement, except for the sections that by their nature continue — such as 16, 17 and 19.
15.Suspension and closure by IBOS
We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or where we have to in order to comply with the law or protect other users. Unless the law or an immediate risk prevents it, we will tell you why first and give you a chance to respond. You can still ask for a copy of your data afterwards.
If IBOS ever shuts down altogether, everyone with an account will be told by email at least 30 days in advance, with time to download their data.
16.Disclaimers
IBOS is provided “as is” and “as available”. As far as the law allows, we make no promise that it will meet every need you have, be free of errors, or produce any particular result — including any grade, predicted score, university offer or deadline being met. This does not affect the legal guarantees you have as a consumer, including the legal guarantee that digital content and services conform to what was described.
17.Limits on liability
As far as the law allows, IBOS is not responsible for losses that come from:
- relying on a plan, a prediction or an AI answer without checking it;
- a missed deadline, a lower grade, or a university decision;
- the service being unavailable, or content being lost, where you could have avoided the loss by keeping your own copy;
- events outside our reasonable control.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, for deliberate or grossly negligent wrongdoing, or for anything else that French law does not allow to be limited. During early access IBOS is free; once you pay for it, our total liability to you will not exceed what you paid in the twelve months before the problem arose, except where the law requires otherwise.
18.Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as IBOS changes. If a change matters — a new obligation on you, a change to your rights, or anything about payment — we will email everyone with an account and show the new version before it applies, and ask you to accept it again. The version and date at the top of this page always identify the current text, and IBOS records which version each account agreed to.
If you don’t accept a change, you can delete your account before it takes effect. Small changes that don’t affect you — fixing a typo, clarifying wording — may be made without notice.
19.Law and disputes
These terms are governed by French law. If you live elsewhere in the EU, you also keep the protection of the consumer law where you live.
If something goes wrong, please write to us first — almost everything is resolved faster by email than any other way. If we can’t resolve it together, you may bring a claim before the competent French court, or the court where you live where the law allows. Once IBOS operates as a registered business, the details of a free consumer mediation service will be added here, as French law requires.
20.General
- If any part of these terms is found invalid, the rest still applies.
- If we don’t enforce a term straight away, we haven’t given up the right to do so later.
- We may transfer this agreement to a company that takes over running IBOS — for example, when IBOS is registered as a business — as long as your rights under it are not reduced. We will tell you if that happens.
- These terms, the privacy notice and the cookie policy are the whole agreement between you and IBOS about the service.
21.Contact
For anything about these terms, your account or your data, write to privacy@ibos.study. You will get a reply from a person.
